About
Own the biggest S&P 500 names only when they’re in long‑term uptrends; otherwise default to the broad index (SPY). Ten equal slices, checked daily, aiming to ride winners and diversify away from individual losers.
Split your money into 10 equal buckets. Each bucket watches one big S&P 500 stock: AAPL, MSFT, NVDA, AMZN, META, GOOGL, BRK.B, AVGO, LLY, JPM. If that stock’s price is above its 200‑day average (about 10 months), the bucket holds the stock. If not, it holds SPY. Recheck daily and adjust. Note: this uses the 200‑day (not 200‑week) average; for Berkshire it judges the A shares but buys the B shares.
Out-of-sample, this mega-cap trend strategy outperforms SPY on a risk-adjusted basis: ~23% vs ~16% annual return, Sharpe ~1.10 vs 0.93, Calmar ~1.08. It rides leaders but uses SPY to limit single-name risk.
