About

Top Patent Approvals 2010-2017 picks the 25 stocks with the highest average yearly patent-approval percentile from 2010–2017, then holds them in equal weights and rebalances quarterly.
NutHow it works
- For each year 2010–2017, count how many patents were approved for each company. - Convert each year’s counts into a percentile ranking (0–100) so you’re comparing relative activity that year. - Average those eight yearly percentiles for each company. - Pick the top 25 companies by this average percentile. - Build a portfolio that holds these 25 stocks with equal cash weights (same dollar amount per stock). - Rebalance the holdings every quarter to maintain the top-25 list and equal weights.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample annualized return 24.8% vs S&P 23.6%; Calmar ~1.05 confirms solid risk-adjusted gains despite higher drawdowns. Equal-weight patent-activity strategy, rebalanced quarterly, seeks faster growth than the S&P.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
