Each day, the strategy checks how unusually hot or cold the overall U.S. stock market has been lately using SPY, a fund that tracks the S&P 500. If the market looks extremely overheated, it buys UVXY, a fund that can jump when market fear rises. If the market looks badly beaten down, it buys the weakest of 3 aggressive bullish funds, hoping for a bounce. Otherwise, it buys whichever of 8 big-name stocks has been strongest over the last few days.

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
