About

A rules-based US large-cap strategy that: uses a UVXY “fear” signal to go volatility or defensive, and otherwise follows the S&P 500 trend to rotate into either 3 recent leaders (in weak markets) or 10 steadier blue chips (in strong markets), sized by inverse volatility.
NutHow it works
UVXY is a “fear” ETF that jumps when volatility spikes. RSI (0–100) is a hot/cold gauge; moving averages are average prices. If UVXY’s RSI > 65 and it’s trending up, the strategy buys UVXY; if not, it parks in short‑term bonds (SUB, SHY) and the US dollar (UUP). Otherwise it checks the S&P 500 trend using UPRO (3× SPY). If weak, it owns the 3 recent leaders among big US stocks; if strong, 10 steadier blue chips, giving bigger weights to calmer names.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample tests show the strategy offers better risk-adjusted returns and lower drawdowns than the S&P 500 by deft volatility timing and defensive rotation, making it a smoother, more resilient core equity sleeve.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
