About

Rules-based, daily risk-on/risk-off strategy. Uses bond and volatility signals to hold SPY, move to short‑term Treasuries, or shift into an equal‑weighted basket of defensive/hedge ETFs (including inverse/leveraged) during stress.
NutHow it works
Daily it makes a simple risk call. Bond stress? If a fund that rises when long‑term Treasury prices fall (TTT) looks stronger than short‑term junk bonds (SHYG), it goes defensive and splits equally across a basket of hedges. Otherwise it checks volatility: if the last 30 days are choppier than the past year, it parks in short‑term Treasuries (SHY); if the spike is extreme, it rotates into low‑vol defensive/short funds. If volatility is normal, it holds the S&P 500 (SPY) unless bonds have been weak lately, then it uses SHY. Equal weights; daily rebalance.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample: ~9.48% annualized return, max drawdown ~10%, Calmar ~0.95, and a small negative beta vs SPY. Delivers stronger downside protection and defensive diversification in stress, with a disciplined rules-based process.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
