About

A rules-based, “go with the trend” strategy. In uptrends, hold broad stocks and sometimes add bonds or a volatility hedge. In downtrends, buy sharp rebounds with leveraged funds; otherwise short tech or sit in bonds/defensive stocks.
NutHow it works
First, it checks if the S&P 500 (SPY) is above its long-term trend. If yes, it holds a simple stock mix (SCHD, VXUS, IJR, SPYG) and may pair it with long Treasuries (TLT) or a volatility hedge (VIXY) based on a “heat meter” called RSI (>80 very hot, >60 strong). If SPY is weak, it tries quick rebounds with 3x bulls (TECL or UPRO). If not bouncing, it either shorts tech (PSQ/QID) or hides in bonds (TLT/BSV). If conditions are mixed, it uses a defensive stock fund (SPHD).
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample edge: 22.11% annualized vs SPY 21.85%. A regime-switching strategy that grows in uptrends and captures rebounds in downtrends with a diversified core, hedges, and selective leverage—higher upside with disciplined risk.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
