About

A rules-based plan that each month chooses between big tech or sector funds. If QQQ (Nasdaq-100) is trending up, buy the 3 best recent performers among major tech stocks. If not, hold the 3 strongest sectors by long-term performance. Equal-weight the picks.
NutHow it works
Each month it checks QQQ, a fund tracking the Nasdaq-100 (mostly big tech). If QQQ’s 5-day average price (average of the last 5 closes) is above its 200-day average, it buys equal amounts of the 3 best-returning big-tech stocks (Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Alphabet, Meta, NVIDIA, Adobe) over the last 20 trading days. Otherwise it buys the 3 top-returning Vanguard sector funds (energy, health care, utilities, etc.) using 200-day returns. Split 33% each.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample edge: ~29% annualized return vs 22% for the S&P, with a solid ~1.17 Sharpe and modest beta (~1.04). A regime-driven tech tilt and sector rotation aims for higher upside while managing risk.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
