A symphony is an automated trading strategy — Learn more about symphonies here

About

A momentum strategy that, each day, picks the recent top performers from a tech/growth-heavy list across five lookback periods, blends them, and keeps about 25% in cash to reduce swings.
NutHow it works
- Start with a fixed list of well-known stocks and broad ETFs (heavy on U.S. tech/growth, plus miners and some international funds). - For 5, 10, 20, 30, and 60 trading days, it ranks these by how much they’ve risen and picks the top 5 each time. - Each list is equal-weighted, then the five lists are blended evenly. - Only ~75% is invested; ~25% stays in cash. Rebalanced daily.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample results show this strategy underperforms the S&P 500, with larger drawdowns and negative alpha. It's a momentum overlay with a 25% cash cushion, designed as diversification for investors willing to tolerate short-term underperformance for regime shifts.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
