About

A simple monthly rotation among 8 mega‑caps: 4 strong‑trend tech names and 4 strong defensive names, equal‑weighted. Seeks to beat S&P/QQQ with similar drawdowns. Includes an optional SGOV parking step for tax wash‑sale timing.
NutHow it works
Once a month, split the portfolio 50/50 into two baskets. In a tech basket (Apple, Microsoft, NVIDIA, etc.), pick the 4 with the strongest ~6‑month trend; in a defensive mega‑cap basket (healthcare, staples, payments), pick the 4 with the best ~10‑month returns. Put 12.5% in each of the 8 picks and hold for a month, then repeat. A wrapper can temporarily park money in SGOV (a short‑term Treasury fund) to handle wash‑sale timing.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample, this strategy shows dramatically better risk-adjusted performance than the S&P 500: Sharpe ~18x, Calmar ~364x, near-zero beta, and ~1% max drawdown vs ~2.6% for SPY. Simple, liquid monthly mega-cap rotation.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
