About

A high-risk, rule-based, all-in strategy that goes into UVXY on extreme short-term momentum signals across a basket of ETFs; if signals fail and a leveraged ETF drops sharply, it shifts to BIL for safety. No regular rebalancing; very concentrated exposure to a single instrument at a time.
NutHow it works
What the strategy does, in plain language: 1) It looks at a short-term momentum gauge (RSI) for a list of popular ETFs. RSI summarizes whether an asset has been moving up a lot recently. If RSI(10) for any of these ETFs is above 79, the system treats that as a very strong short-term signal and goes all-in on UVXY, i.e., it puts all your money into UVXY for that moment. 2) The decision path is a chain: check QQQE first, then a string of other ETFs (VTV, VOX, TECL, TQQQ, VOOG, VOOV, XLP, SPY, etc.). If any one of these triggers a signal, UVXY becomes the chosen holding. 3) If none of the RSI signals fire, the model looks at the recent performance of TQQQ over the last six days. If that six-day return is worse than -12%, the system shifts to BIL (a short-term Treasuries ETF) as a safer position. 4) When a signal fires, it uses a 100/100 weight (all-in) to that single asset. There is no regular rebalancing; it’s only updated when a signal fires. 5) The intent is to front-run volatility during extreme momentum and switch to safety only if the market shows meaningful recent declines in a leveraged tech exposure. Important caution: UVXY is a volatility-focused instrument that can suffer from time decay and may not be suitable for long periods; this approach is highly risky and not a diversified strategy.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample: ~30% annualized return vs SPY ~22%. Negative beta can hedge market moves. It targets volatility spikes with UVXY for upside, but accepts higher drawdowns for bigger potential gains.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
