About
A contrarian strategy that picks the 2 most beaten-down funds from a mix of Treasury bonds and aggressive 3x stock funds, using a 14-day RSI signal to bet on short-term rebounds.
This strategy looks at 5 funds: 2 U.S. Treasury bond funds (TLT, IEI) and 3 very aggressive stock funds (UPRO, TQQQ, SOXL). It measures which ones have fallen the most over the last 14 days using RSI, a simple “recent heat” score. Then it buys the 2 weakest names, betting they may bounce back. In plain English: it repeatedly buys the recent laggards from a mix of safe bonds and high-risk tech-heavy funds.
Out-of-sample, this contrarian RSI strategy targets 42.6% annualized returns vs 19.3% for the S&P, with bond ballast and 3x growth plays. Higher upside and diversification, but expect higher volatility and drawdowns (≈59%).
