About

A daily “buy the dip” rule: only buy FWDI (international stocks) after a big down day (≈ −3% or worse). Otherwise sit in BIL, a cash‑like T‑bill ETF. Aims to capture short‑term rebounds while staying defensive most of the time.
NutHow it works
Each day, it checks FWDI, an ETF of international (non‑U.S.) stocks. If FWDI fell by more than about 3% in the last day, it buys FWDI to try to catch a short‑term rebound. On all other days (including big up days), it parks the money in BIL, an ultra‑short U.S. Treasury bill ETF.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample edge: Sharpe ~6.5, alpha ~1.75, annualized return ~391% vs S&P; drawdown far smaller; beta ~0.05. Dip-buy FWDI after big declines; otherwise in cash (BIL) for superior risk-adjusted gains.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
