About

Stay in SPY during calm markets. If SPY’s last week becomes unusually volatile, switch 100% into whichever looks more beaten‑down—gold (GLD) or long Treasuries (TLT)—to seek safety and a short-term bounce.
NutHow it works
- When the S&P 500 (SPY) has had an unusually jumpy week, the strategy exits stocks. - It then buys just one “safe haven”: gold (GLD) or long U.S. Treasuries (TLT). It picks the one with the lower 10‑day RSI—a simple 0–100 score of recent moves; lower means it’s been sold off more—aiming for a rebound. - If the week isn’t jumpy, it stays 100% in SPY.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample, this rules-based strategy yields solid risk-adjusted returns (Sharpe ~1.25) with beta ≈0.80, plus crisis hedges (gold or TLT) when volatility spikes—offering a diversified, sensible complement to SPY.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
