About

A three-switch trend model that shifts between stocks (SPY, the S&P 500) and safety (SHY, 1–3 year Treasuries). More green lights = more SPY (0/33/67/100%); red lights move to SHY. Seeks to cut big drawdowns while keeping much of the upside.
NutHow it works
It runs 3 simple “switches.” 1) Is SPY above its recent 85‑day average price? 2) Is SPY’s fast 8‑day trend above its long 200‑day trend? 3) Have inflation‑protected bonds (TIP) beaten ultra‑short Treasuries (SHV) lately? Each “yes” adds 33% to SPY; each “no” goes to SHY. Rebalance only when signals change or drift >5%.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample edge: higher risk-adjusted return (Sharpe ~1.47 vs ~1.22) and far smaller drawdowns (8.5% vs 18.8%). Annualized return ~16% vs SPY’s ~21%, but with capital preservation and steadier growth via a clear risk-on/risk-off rule.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
