This strategy first asks one big question: is the U.S. stock market in a healthy long-term uptrend or not? If yes, it mainly watches for stocks getting too "hot" too fast. When that happens, it shifts toward fear/volatility funds and defensive holdings instead of chasing the rally. If not, it spreads money across several defensive playbooks that can use bonds, cash-like funds, gold, market hedges, and even bets that rise when stocks or volatility move the other way.
