About

A SPY-first, trend-following plan. In uptrends it mostly holds SPY, sometimes mixes in long Treasuries or briefly hedges with VIXY when things look overheated. In downtrends it may try a tech rebound (TECL) or shift toward bonds or a mild short (SH).
NutHow it works
It’s a rule set built around SPY (S&P 500). Trend test: price vs 200‑day average. Uptrend: hold SPY; if a 10‑day heat gauge (0–100) >80, switch to VIXY (volatility hedge). If strength is high but not extreme, hold 45% SPY + 55% TLT (long Treasuries). Downtrend: if tech is washed‑out (QQQ gauge <31) buy TECL (3× tech) for a bounce; else if also below the 30‑day average, hold 50% BND (bonds) and 50% SPY or SH (inverse S&P) per a bond‑vs‑bear check. Else SPY.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample, the strategy targets higher upside: 26.9% annualized return vs SPY's 22.2%, with dynamic hedges (VIXY) and bond ballast for diversification. Calmar ~0.95 signals solid risk-adjusted performance, despite larger drawdowns.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
