About
A one-holding strategy that rotates into market-fear protection when volatility surges; otherwise it buys whichever is trending strongest among chips, the S&P 500, energy, or commodities.
This strategy holds just one investment at a time.
First it checks VIXM, a fund that usually rises when market fear is surging. If VIXM has been unusually strong recently, the strategy buys VIXM as a crash/fear hedge.
If not, it compares 7 choices—chip stocks/funds, the S&P 500, commodities, and energy—and buys the one with the strongest 3-month trend.
Out-of-sample annualized return ~21.6% vs SPY ~20.1%, using a simple one-position momentum system with a VIXM fear hedge. Captures leaders (semis, energy, commodities) in up markets; but expect larger drawdowns in crashes.
