About

An easy, equal-weighted 5-ETF mix (VTI, VBR, TLH, SHY, GLD) that blends growth, income, and inflation hedge. It spreads risk across US stocks, small-cap value, long/short Treasuries, and gold. No automatic rebalance in this version. Watch ETF costs/risk.
NutHow it works
What it is: a five-ETF portfolio that is built to be balanced and simple. You invest roughly the same dollar amount in each asset: VTI (broad US stocks), VBR (small-cap value stocks), TLH (long-term Treasuries), SHY (short-term Treasuries), and GLD (gold). Why these assets: each adds a different source of return and risk. Stocks aim for growth; small-cap value adds potential extra return but with more volatility; Treasuries provide income and can cushion losses when stocks fall; gold offers a hedge against inflation and currency moves. How it works: you start with equal allocations, and the portfolio will drift as prices move. If you enable rebalancing, you’d restore the equal weights when any asset drifts more than 5% from its target. In this version, rebalance is set to none, so weights won’t be automatically adjusted. What you’ll actually own: five different ETFs traded on major exchanges, so you don’t need to buy individual stocks or bonds directly. What to watch: ETF expense ratios, tax considerations if held in a taxable account, liquidity, and the fact that none of these assets is risk-free. Practical takeaway: this is a straightforward, diversified, index-like sleeve designed to be fairly resilient across market regimes, rather than a high-growth or high-leverage strategy.
CheckmarkValue prop
Five-ETF blend offers steadier, more resilient growth than the S&P. Out-of-sample Sharpe ~1.08; Calmar ~0.66; max drawdown 15.6% vs 22.1% for SPY; beta ~0.43; gold hedge. Lower upside, but better downside protection and inflation hedge.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
