About

Rules-based rotation: buy the 5 strongest large US stocks when the S&P 500 is healthy, but flip defensive (SH, an inverse S&P ETF) or to very short‑term leaders when it weakens. Uses trend (moving averages) and RSI to time risk-on vs risk-off.
NutHow it works
SPY = ETF that tracks the S&P 500; SH = ETF that rises when the S&P 500 falls. RSI is a 0–100 “speedometer” of recent buying vs selling. - If SPY is above its 200‑day average and not extremely “hot” (RSI>80), own the 5 strongest names (from SPY + ~100 biggest S&P stocks) by 3‑month performance. - If below, use faster 2–20 day lookbacks to catch rebounds; if no bounce, hold SH. Equal‑weight. Sectors drift to recent leaders (often tech, but can shift).
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample, this rotation strategy delivers dramatically higher risk-adjusted returns than the S&P: Sharpe ~6.06 vs 2.71, positive alpha ~2.34%, and strong Calmar ~257, with dynamic risk-on/off signals and hedges.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
