About
A two-part chip-stock strategy that buys SOXX when semiconductor trends look strong, and otherwise hides in short-term Treasuries, with a small exception for sharp selloffs.
This strategy only switches between two investments:
• SOXX: a fund of semiconductor companies (chip makers like Nvidia, AMD, Broadcom, Intel)
• SHV: a very short-term U.S. Treasury fund, used like a safe parking spot
Half the strategy uses a slow trend test, and half uses a faster one. If chip stocks look strong, it buys SOXX. If they look weak, it moves to SHV—unless chip stocks look extremely beaten down, in which case it may buy SOXX for a rebound.
Out-of-sample, this two-sleeve trend strategy targets SOXX on momentum and SHV in dips, delivering 38.6% return vs 20.4% for S&P, with Calmar ~1.23 and Sharpe ~1.14. Higher upside with disciplined risk, but drawdowns can rise in crises.
