About

A daily, four-signal scale-in strategy for SOXL using EMA-based trend signals and equal-weighted cash allocations, with BIL as a cash proxy when signals aren’t favorable.
NutHow it works
Every day, the strategy splits cash into four equal parts. For each part, it checks one rule about SOXL: - Is SOXL price above EMA(200)? - Is SOXL price above EMA(20)? - Is EMA(20) above EMA(50)? - Is EMA(50) above EMA(200)? If the rule is true for that part, the part goes into SOXL; if false, it goes into BIL (short-term Treasuries). This creates a four-signal, equal-weighted scale-in approach to positioning. The rules are purely technical and use moving averages to gauge trend strength and direction across different timeframes. Assets: - SOXL: Direxion Daily Semiconductor Bull 3x Shares (leveraged semiconductor exposure) - BIL: SPDR Bloomberg 1-3 Month T-Bill ETF (cash-like safety). Rebalance occurs daily, so the allocations can shift every trading day based on the signals.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample annualized return: 46.8% vs SPY’s 22.2%. Four independent EMA signals with equal-weighted cash vs BIL capture momentum in semis while preserving capital when trends weaken—strong upside with disciplined risk vs the S&P 500.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
