About

A daily, RSI-driven momentum rotation between leveraged tech ETFs (TQQQ and TECL) and safer bonds/cash (BIL/PFIX), with equal weighting when active. If tech momentum tops its benchmarks, you get a tech-leveraged tilt; if momentum falters, you move to safety. Not intended for long-term holding of leveraged bets due to high risk and turnover.
NutHow it works
- The system runs every day to decide where to place capital. It starts with a cash-equal weighting block, meaning it prefers to split risk evenly among chosen assets when a signal is affirmative. - It then checks momentum signals using RSI (a measure of recent price strength) across pairs of ETFs. The lookback windows used include 5, 10, and 20 days. For example, it tests if RSI(SMH, 10) > RSI(WTMF, 10). If true, it moves to place money into leveraged tech bets. - The leveraged tech bets it uses as primary assets are TQQQ (3x exposure to the NASDAQ-100) and TECL (3x exposure to technology). If the signals are positive, those two are bought with equal weight. - If the first momentum condition isn’t satisfied, the strategy tests other RSI comparisons (e.g., RSI(SMH, 20) > RSI(FTLS, 20); RSI(VGT, 5) > RSI(CTA, 5); RSI(SMH, 20) > RSI(PFIX, 20)). If any of these conditions are true, the strategy still targets TQQQ (and sometimes TECL) with an emphasis on tech momentum. - If none of the momentum checks indicate strength, the strategy shifts into safer assets such as BIL (short-term U.S. Treasuries) or PFIX, reflecting a risk-off posture. - The assets mentioned (TQQQ, TECL, SMH, VGT, WTMF, FTLS, CTA, PFIX, BIL) are all ETFs, with TQQQ/TECL being leveraged bets on tech, SMH/VGT representing tech/semiconductors, and BIL/PFIX serving as safer fixed-income exposure. - The entire process is designed to be quick, with frequent rebalancing, which is typical for momentum-driven, short-horizon strategies and can lead to higher turnover and risk if markets gyrate quickly.
CheckmarkValue prop
RSI-driven rotation into leveraged tech with risk-off safety net: out-of-sample ~56% annualized vs ~18% S&P, Sharpe ~1.0+, Calmar ~1.52. Greater upside and disciplined risk control—yet higher drawdowns in downturns.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
