About

A daily rule-based momentum strategy that uses SMH vs rivals to decide between 2x tech ETFs (TQQQ/TECL) or a top-3 hedge/futures basket (TMV, TMF, SVXY, VIXM, FTLS, KMLM, UUP) with equal weights.
NutHow it works
This strategy uses a two-layer momentum test with SMH (Semiconductors) as the reference. It measures SMH vs WTMF on a 10-day window; if SMH leads, it then checks SMH vs FTLS on a 20-day window. If SMH stays ahead, it buys two leveraged tech ETFs (TQQQ and TECL). If SMH does not stay ahead, it selects the best 3 assets from a hedge/futures group (TMV, TMF, SVXY, VIXM, FTLS, KMLM, UUP) based on a 5-day moving-performance measure and gives them equal weight. If the first test indicates not-leading, a similar two-step check is applied, still returning either the two tech ETFs or the top-3 hedge/futures assets. Positions are adjusted daily. Note: KMLM is a managed-futures ETF (futures-based trend strategy); UUP tracks the US dollar index; SVXY is an inverse volatility ETF; VIXM tracks volatility futures. The overall exposure remains in EQUITIES related assets only, with a bias toward tech exposure when SMH shows momentum, otherwise a diversified hedge/futures basket.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
