About

A daily, rules‑based swing system that rides semiconductor uptrends, steps into volatility (VIXY) when markets overheat, and in weak markets toggles among leveraged bounce plays (TECL/SPXL), inverse semis (SSG), bonds (BSV), or SMH based on short‑term signals.
NutHow it works
Step 1 (trend): If the semiconductor fund SMH is above its 200‑day average, own SMH—unless the market looks “too hot” (10‑day RSI, a 0–100 heat gauge, >~80 on QQQ/SPY/SMH). In that case, park in VIXY (benefits when fear/volatility jumps). Step 2 (weak trend): If SMH is below its 200‑day average, buy 3x tech/S&P (TECL/SPXL) only on sharp sell‑offs (RSI <~30). Otherwise let volatility guide you: when vol is rising, hold VIXY; when calm, own SMH if it’s above its 20‑day average, else pick either inverse semis (SSG) or short‑term bonds (BSV)—whichever is stronger short‑term.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample edge: Sharpe 2.86 vs 2.43, Calmar 8.89, annualized return ~105% vs SPY 28%. Superior risk-adjusted upside with volatility hedges; note drawdowns higher (~11.8% vs 5.1%). Higher beta implies more growth potential.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
