About

A one-position, rules-based switch among SPY, SSO, QLD, UVXY, and GLD. It reacts to QQQ’s short-term extremes and follows SPY’s longer/shorter-term trends, aiming to profit from rebounds or volatility spikes and to hide in gold when stocks look weak.
NutHow it works
Owns one ETF at a time, chosen by two signals. 1) QQQ short-term extremes via 10-day RSI (0–100 “stretched” gauge): if RSI>79 buy UVXY (2x VIX) to benefit from a pullback; if RSI<31 buy QLD (2x QQQ) for a rebound. 2) Otherwise use SPY trend: if price>200-day avg hold SPY; else if >30-day hold SSO (2x S&P); else hold GLD (gold).
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample edge: Sharpe 2.71 vs SPY 2.40 and 33.4% annualized return vs 28.4%, with similar drawdown. A disciplined one-ETF rotation aims to beat the S&P 500 while keeping risk in check.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
