About

A fast, tactical strategy that buys volatility hedges when stocks look overheated, buys leveraged tech on big dips, and otherwise rides the strongest trends. Falls back to T‑bills/bonds/gold/KMLM when risk rises. Very high risk.
NutHow it works
Each day it asks: is the market overheated (RSI, a 0–100 “heat” gauge; >~80 = too hot)? If yes, it buys fear hedges (UVXY/VIXY, funds tied to the VIX that jump when fear spikes) or parks in T‑bills (BIL/SHV). If washed‑out (RSI <~30), it buys 3× tech/semis (TQQQ, TECL, SOXL). Otherwise it follows the trend (200‑day average) and holds strong ETFs; if stocks falter, it shifts to bonds (TMF/TMV), gold, or KMLM (a managed‑futures diversifier).
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample, this strategy delivers higher annualized returns (28.3% vs 27%), lower beta, and a Calmar ~3.63. It hedges spikes with VIX and shifts to cash/bonds on risk for steadier risk-adjusted gains vs the S&P 500.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
