About
A weekly, cash-first, rule-based strategy that uses drawdown and momentum signals to selectively tilt into a small mix of China, gold, Bitcoin, Nasdaq leverage, and volatility hedges, with most of the portfolio kept in cash.
How it works in plain language:
- The system starts with mostly cash (about 90%).
- It runs a chain of checks using a few signals on several assets.
- If signals flag risk (for example, one asset recently fell a lot), the model may tilt toward hedges or selective risk bets rather than staying in cash.
- The assets involved are: YINN (China), UGL (gold with leverage), UVXY (volatility hedge), TQQQ (Nasdaq 3x), GLD (gold), and GBTC (Bitcoin exposure).
- RSI and drawdown thresholds determine whether to buy a leveraged asset, hedge with volatility, or stay in cash.
- Rebalancing happens weekly, so positions can change week to week based on the signals.
- The aim is to capture opportunistic bets while keeping overall risk under control via cash and hedges.
Out-of-sample edge: cash-first, rule-based strategy delivers superior risk-adjusted returns vs S&P—oos Sharpe 2.16 vs 1.38, Calmar 11.36, with weekly hedges and selective leverage for higher, managed upside.
