About

A one-ETF-at-a-time, volatility-gated strategy that rotates among leveraged tech, bond, commodity, currency, and hedge ETFs using simple “heat” gauges and trend checks to buy short-term bounces or switch to defensive hedges.
NutHow it works
1) Read the market’s “fear” gauge using UVXY (a volatility ETF). Its 0–100 “heat” score (RSI) drives the first decision: low fear → park in T‑bills (BIL); medium fear → sit in UVXY; extreme fear → turn on the tactical engine. 2) In the tactical engine, first decide if interest rates are rising or falling. If rates are rising, favor TMV (benefits when long-term Treasury prices fall). If rates are falling, favor TMF (benefits when long-term Treasury prices rise). 3) Check if stocks are in a longer-term uptrend or downtrend (using long moving averages on the S&P 500). Uptrend: prefer bullish tech/semiconductor index funds. Downtrend or sharp drops: switch to inverse (bear) funds or safer assets. 4) Pick just one ETF at a time from a small list. Often it buys the recent short‑term loser among bullish tech/semis (a bounce play). When markets tumble or get overheated, it flips to the strongest hedge (inverse equity, dollar up, energy, or Treasuries). 5) Extra brakes and boosts: If tech gets very “hot” in a day or two, hedge with UVXY. If selloffs accelerate, choose the strongest inverse ETF. If commodities get jumpy vs stocks, move to a “defense” list (hedges, gold, dollar, short euro/yen).
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample return ≈22.1% vs SPY ≈21.8%; max drawdown ≈2.2% vs 18.8%; Calmar ratio appears exceptionally favorable. A volatility-gated, single-ETF rotation aims for higher upside with far stronger downside protection vs the S&P 500.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
