About

A fast‑twitch, rules‑based strategy that switches between the S&P 500 (sometimes 3x), short S&P, and safe‑haven assets based on market calm vs turbulence, short‑term trend, and whether the market looks overheated or washed out.
NutHow it works
1) First, it checks if the market is calm or stormy by comparing recent bounciness to the past year. 2) Calm: If U.S. stocks look stronger than commodities long-term, it goes 3x S&P 500 (UPRO). Otherwise it picks the single best recent performer from bonds, dollar, commodities, or gold. 3) Stormy: It reads the short-term trend (12 vs 26‑day averages) and a heat gauge (RSI). If trend up and not overheated, buy SPY. If overheated, hold a short S&P fund plus two strong defensives. If trend down but very washed out, make a bounce bet with 3x S&P. Otherwise hold the two strongest defensives (can include short S&P).
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample return about 34% annually vs about 24% for the S&P, powered by regime-switching that goes risk-on in calm markets and hedges in turbulence. Calmar ~1.12 suggests solid risk-adjusted upside despite higher drawdowns in stress.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
