About
A fast‑twitch, rules‑based strategy that switches between the S&P 500 (sometimes 3x), short S&P, and safe‑haven assets based on market calm vs turbulence, short‑term trend, and whether the market looks overheated or washed out.
1) First, it checks if the market is calm or stormy by comparing recent bounciness to the past year.
2) Calm: If U.S. stocks look stronger than commodities long-term, it goes 3x S&P 500 (UPRO). Otherwise it picks the single best recent performer from bonds, dollar, commodities, or gold.
3) Stormy: It reads the short-term trend (12 vs 26‑day averages) and a heat gauge (RSI). If trend up and not overheated, buy SPY. If overheated, hold a short S&P fund plus two strong defensives. If trend down but very washed out, make a bounce bet with 3x S&P. Otherwise hold the two strongest defensives (can include short S&P).
Out-of-sample return about 34% annually vs about 24% for the S&P, powered by regime-switching that goes risk-on in calm markets and hedges in turbulence. Calmar ~1.12 suggests solid risk-adjusted upside despite higher drawdowns in stress.
