A mostly stock-market strategy built around VTI that tries to sidestep trouble by switching into cash-like bonds, defensive stocks, gold, or inflation-protected bonds when market signals worsen.

This strategy mostly wants to own the broad U.S. stock market through VTI, but it checks whether conditions look healthy first. When markets look calm and trends are positive, it holds VTI. When fear spikes or trends weaken, it can move into safer choices like short-term Treasury bills (BIL), defensive consumer-staples stocks (XLP), or a mix of gold (IAU) and inflation-protected bonds (TIP). One smaller branch also makes an aggressive bet on the Nasdaq using TQQQ after sharp selloffs, so that piece adds extra risk.
