This strategy constantly asks: “Is the stock market too hot, too weak, or in a healthy uptrend?” If major stock indexes or sectors have surged too fast, it moves into volatility funds like VIXY or UVXY, which usually benefit when markets get shaky. If the market is not overheated and the S&P 500 is still above its 200-day trend line, it may buy aggressive leveraged tech or stock-market funds. If the trend is poor, it switches to either a bearish fund or long-term Treasury bonds—whichever looks stronger.

Out-of-sample strategy aims to beat the S&P: ~56% annualized return vs ~17% for SPY, with Calmar near 1. It uses tech in uptrends and hedges with volatility/bonds in heat or downturns—beware large drawdowns in crises.
