About

When chips trend up, own 4 of the strongest chip stocks; otherwise hold 2 oversold bond/defensive funds. Uses a 20/200‑day trend check on SMH and RSI for selection. Equal weights; trades only when signals change.
NutHow it works
Step 1: Check the chip sector’s trend using SMH (a fund of chip companies). If its short‑term average price (last 20 days) is above its long‑term average (200 days), the sector is “up.” Step 2 (uptrend): Buy 4 chip stocks with the strongest recent momentum, evenly split. “Momentum” here uses RSI, a 0–100 score comparing recent up vs down days; higher = stronger. Step 2 (not up): Move into 2 “safer” bond/defensive funds that have fallen recently (lowest RSI), split evenly. Examples include short/long Treasuries, high‑grade corporate bonds, and defensive sectors like utilities, health care, and staples. One option (UGE) is a 2x leveraged staples fund. Trading: No fixed rebalance schedule; it changes only when these signals flip or weights drift a lot.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample performance shows this strategy delivering higher risk-adjusted returns than the S&P 500, with stronger upside in semiconductor rallies and safer downside via adaptive trend and defensive rotations.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
