About
A daily dip-buying strategy: in strong markets it mostly owns SPY, but buys more 2x tech exposure (QLD) when the Nasdaq falls sharply. In weak markets it gets defensive, mixing QLD with short-term Treasuries (SHY).
Each day, the strategy first asks: is the U.S. stock market in a healthy uptrend? It uses SPY (a broad U.S. stock fund) and checks whether it is above its 200-day average price.
If yes, it stays mostly in SPY unless QQQ (the Nasdaq-100, heavy in big tech) has fallen hard recently. The bigger that tech dip, the more it buys QLD, a fund that aims to move about 2x the Nasdaq-100 each day.
If the market is not in an uptrend, it becomes more cautious: it still may buy some QLD on sharp tech dips, but it pairs that with SHY, a short-term Treasury bond fund, and defaults fully to SHY when there is no strong dip.
Out-of-sample edge: 23.83% annualized return vs SPY 20.14%, lower drawdown (10.47% vs 18.76%), and stronger risk-adjusted Sharpe (~1.33 vs ~1.30). Calmar ~2.28—durable upside with better downside control.
