It’s an “All Weather” portfolio that adapts. It watches three things: market fear (the VIX), whether prices trend up or down (long‑term averages), and when moves get too hot or too cold (short‑term swings). - Calm, uptrend: lean into growth with leveraged tech funds (TECL/TQQQ/SOXL). - Shaky or falling: park in T‑bills/short‑term Treasuries (BIL/BSV/SHV/SHY) or hedge with UVXY; sometimes briefly short stocks or long the U.S. dollar (UUP/USDU). - Bonds: switch among long Treasuries (TMF), inverse Treasuries (TMV), or cash based on rate trends. - Commodities: rotate into gold/commodities (GLD/DBC) or the dollar when inflation or rates drive returns.
