About

Rules-based “Dragon”-style portfolio that rotates across stocks, bonds, gold/commodities, the US dollar, and volatility hedges. It leans into growth in calm uptrends and pivots to safety or shorts in stress, sometimes using leveraged ETFs.
NutHow it works
Think of five buckets: 1) growth stocks, 2) Treasury bonds, 3) gold/commodities, 4) cash/US dollar, 5) crash protection (VIX/shorts). Rules tilt toward stocks when prices trend up, and shift to bonds, gold, commodities, the dollar, or hedges when stress appears. Signals use trend lines (moving averages), “heat” of recent moves (RSI), and drops from highs (drawdown). It sometimes uses leveraged or inverse ETFs to react faster.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample edge: Sharpe 1.71 vs 1.41; annualized return 24.38% vs 22.46%; max drawdown 12.50% vs 18.76%; Calmar ~1.95; beta ~0.65. A diversified Dragon strategy aiming for steadier growth with less risk than the S&P 500.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
