A symphony is an automated trading strategy — Learn more about symphonies here

About

A rule‑based, all‑weather portfolio inspired by the Dragon idea. It spreads risk across crash insurance, trend/managed‑futures, gold, growth stocks, and Treasuries, then tilts between offense and defense using simple signals like trend, drawdowns, and hot/cold readings.
NutHow it works
It splits your money into five engines: a crash‑insurance bucket, a trend‑riding bucket (commodities/currencies/stocks), a core gold stake, a growth‑stock sleeve, and a bond sleeve. It checks simple signals—price trend, size of recent drops, and “hot/cold” readings—to lean into strength or cut risk. It can buy or short (via ETFs) oil, gas, gold, dollars, Treasuries, and global stocks, and sometimes uses leveraged funds when conditions look favorable. If fear surges or trends break, it shifts into hedges or cash‑like bonds.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample, this diversified, rule-based strategy delivers superior risk-adjusted returns vs the S&P: oos Sharpe 1.64 vs 1.35, Calmar 1.66, max drawdown 11.5% vs 18.8%, 19% oos return with lower beta—thanks to multi-asset engines and tail hedges.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
