About

Rules-based strategy that flips between inflation and deflation using metals vs Treasuries. It tilts to commodities/cyclicals in inflation and to Treasuries/defensives in deflation, adding tactical hedges when markets look too hot or too cold. Rebalances daily.
NutHow it works
1) Decide the backdrop: compare a metals fund (DBB) to long US Treasuries (TLT). If metals lead → inflation; if Treasuries lead → deflation. 2) Check risk tone using simple leaders: cyclical vs defensive stocks, real estate vs commodities, and SPY vs a low‑vol version (SPLV). 3) Buy what fits: in inflation, more commodities and cyclical tech/industrials; in deflation, more Treasuries, utilities, and some gold. When prices look too hot or too cold (a speedometer‑like signal), it adds hedges. Rebalances daily.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample, this regime-switching strategy returns 31.6%/yr vs SPY 24.7%, with lower max drawdown (8.38% vs 14.59%), better Calmar (~3.77) and Sharpe (~1.25), and a beta near 0.79, offering higher upside with less market risk.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
