About

A daily, binary rule: if SPY’s 10-day RSI is above 82, allocate 100% to UVXY (volatility bet); otherwise allocate 100% to TQQQ (3x Nasdaq exposure). It’s an aggressive, non-diversified strategy using a single signal to switch between two leveraged ETFs.
NutHow it works
What this strategy does, in plain language: 1) Every day, it keeps all your money in a single position (no diversification). 2) It looks at SPY (an ETF that tracks the broad U.S. stock market) and computes a 10-day Relative Strength Index (RSI). The RSI is a number from 0 to 100 that traders use to judge momentum; higher numbers mean the price has been rising quickly. 3) If RSI(SPY, 10) is above 82 (an extremely high readings suggest the move may be overextended), the strategy buys UVXY (ProShares Ultra VIX Short-Term Futures ETF), which tends to rise when market volatility spikes. 4) If RSI(SPY, 10) is not above 82, the strategy buys TQQQ (ProShares UltraPro QQQ), which is a 3x levered bet on the Nasdaq-100 (tech-heavy stocks). 5) The position is reviewed and rebalanced every trading day, switching between UVXY and TQQQ based on the signal. 6) This approach is aggressive and not diversified: you’re either exposed to volatility (UVXY) or to a highly leveraged Nasdaq bet (TQQQ) with 100% of capital in one of them at a time. Why this might be used: UVXY can capture spikes in volatility; TQQQ can capture strong up moves in Nasdaq when markets are strong. The price behavior of leveraged ETFs can be unpredictable and amplify both gains and losses. Important: SPY is a broad-market proxy, UVXY is a volatility-focused ETF, and TQQQ is a triple-levered Nasdaq exposure. This is a high-risk, high-volatility strategy and is not suitable for all investors.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample annual return ~25% vs S&P ~14%; a 100% switch between UVXY and TQQQ targets big upside but with large drawdowns. Best for high-tolerance, growth-focused investors, not risk-averse preservation.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
