About
An aggressive market-timing strategy: ride a strong U.S. stock uptrend with 3x exposure, buy sharp dips, bet against extreme rallies, and otherwise shift into bonds and gold for defense.
This strategy checks the U.S. stock market every day using UPRO, a fund that moves about 3x the S&P 500’s daily move.
If UPRO is above its 200-day average price, it goes all-in on UPRO.
If not, it looks for extremes: after a very sharp 2-day drop, it still buys UPRO for a bounce; after a very sharp 2-day rise, it buys SDS, which rises when the S&P 500 falls.
If neither extreme is happening, it hides in a mix of long-term bonds, medium-term bonds, and gold, giving more weight to the steadier ones.
Outsize upside potential: out-of-sample return ~26% vs 15% for the S&P, fueled by 3x leveraged trend bets and tactical hedges. Higher volatility and drawdowns accompany potentially stronger long-run gains in persistent uptrends.
