A commodity-first strategy: own broad commodities when the trend is favorable, step into cash after a sharp spike, and otherwise rotate into a lower-volatility mix of stocks, Treasuries, and gold.
NutHow it works
This strategy mainly watches a broad commodities fund, PDBC. If commodities are in an uptrend (price above its 50-day average), it owns PDBC most of the time. If commodities have just surged too far too fast, it briefly moves to BIL, a very short-term U.S. Treasury fund (cash-like). If commodities are not in an uptrend, it only buys PDBC after an extreme short-term drop. Otherwise, it spreads money across U.S. stocks (SPY), Treasury bonds (IEF, TLT), and gold (GLD), giving more weight to whichever has been less volatile recently.
