This strategy first asks a big question: are investors favoring safer U.S. government bonds or riskier foreign company bonds? Then it checks whether the stock market is acting boldly or defensively, and whether growth stocks or value stocks are leading. Based on those 3 signals, it switches each day into one of 8 baskets made up of sector funds, commodities, country funds, and some bearish/hedging positions.

Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers.
