A market-timing strategy that swings between aggressive leveraged tech bets and defensive safe-haven assets, based on bond trends, volatility, and signs of market stress or rebound.

This strategy first asks: are conditions friendly or hostile for risk? It uses bond trends, market volatility, and recent stock moves to decide. In calm or improving markets, it often leans hard into turbocharged tech funds like TQQQ or chip funds like SOXL. If markets look overheated or unstable, it can flip into bearish funds like SQQQ or SOXS, or hide in short-term Treasury cash substitutes like BIL. When risk looks worse, it rotates into defensive holdings such as Treasuries, a strong U.S. dollar fund, commodities, consumer staples, utilities, and hedged or market-neutral funds.

Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
