About

A daily chip-sector switch: usually holds SOXL (3× long semiconductors). After a very big up day in SOXX (~>2.5%), it flips to SOXS (3× inverse) to bet on a short-term pullback. Pure semiconductor exposure; extremely risky due to leverage.
NutHow it works
Each day it looks at SOXX, a fund holding chipmakers (e.g., Nvidia, AMD, Intel). If SOXX jumped more than about 2.5% yesterday, it bets on a pullback by buying SOXS (a 3× inverse semiconductor fund). Otherwise it buys SOXL (a 3× long fund). Rebalanced daily; very high risk.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample: Sharpe ~0.95 vs SPY ~0.72; annualized return ~55.6% vs ~11.9%; alpha ~0.57. A disciplined, rule-based semiconductor strategy offers superior risk-adjusted growth, albeit with higher volatility and potential drawdowns.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
