About

A daily rule-based EM tilt that switches to a Safe Sectors/bonds hedge when risk signals fire, using EM ETFs (EEM/EDC/EDZ) vs. defensive assets (TLT/LQD/BSV/XLP) with momentum-style checks across multiple windows.
NutHow it works
A daily process runs many signals across a wide set of ETFs (EM exposure like EEM/EDC/EDZ and defensive assets like BSV, TLT, LQD, XLP, UGE). Each signal checks recent price strength and momentum (using windows like 10 or 15 days) and compares assets against thresholds. If the majority of signals favor risk-taking, the system tilts toward EM exposure (and related leveraged or bear variants as indicated). If signals indicate risk-off, it shifts into a Safe Sectors or Bonds mix (TOP picks from a short list such as bond ETFs and defender sectors). The selection often uses a bottom/weakest-strongest ranking within the Safe group to keep the defense lean. The process is repeated every trading day, and the exact weights or selections are driven by the nested conditional logic (inner checks feed into outer branches). In short: it uses a ladder of momentum-like tests to decide between EM-focused exposure and a defensive, bond/consumer-staples mix, rebalancing daily.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample, this daily EM tilt beats SPY: oos Sharpe ~1.94 vs 0.58, oos return ~62%/yr vs 6.25%, Calmar ~4.36. Dynamic EM exposure with hedges targets faster growth and better drawdown protection than the S&P 500.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
