This strategy splits money into two parts: 60% for a fast-moving Nasdaq bet and 40% for “ballast.” The 60% piece usually buys QLD, a fund that aims to deliver about 2x the daily move of the Nasdaq-100, but only when the market trend looks healthy. If stocks look overheated, it hides in SHV (very short-term Treasury bills). In weaker markets, it may buy PSQ, which rises when the Nasdaq falls, unless the selloff looks extreme enough for a rebound trade back into QLD. The 40% ballast spreads across commodities, gold, and consumer staples (XLP). It only holds commodities and gold when their own trends look supportive; otherwise it uses SHV.

Out-of-sample edge: ~36.7% annualized return vs ~18.8% S&P, Sharpe ~1.52 vs ~1.16, Calmar ~1.74. Trend-following with ballast hedges aiming higher risk-adjusted growth; drawdowns may exceed the S&P.
