About
A daily market-timing strategy built around leveraged Nasdaq exposure: own QLD in favorable setups, move to Treasuries when tech looks overheated, and in weaker markets switch between QLD, bearish QID, and TLT.
This strategy mainly tries to own QLD, a fund that aims to deliver 2x the daily move of the Nasdaq-100 (big tech-heavy companies).
It first checks if the overall U.S. stock market looks healthy using SPY vs its 200-day average. In strong markets it holds QLD unless QLD looks overheated, then it hides in long-term Treasury bonds (TLT). In weak markets it only buys QLD after a sharp drop or when short-term momentum improves; otherwise it chooses either bearish QID or defensive TLT.
Out-of-sample annualized return 25.6% vs S&P 17.5%, driven by tactical Nasdaq exposure (QLD) with built-in hedges (QID and TLT). Expect stronger upside in tech-led markets, but note higher drawdowns (~35.7%) and Calmar ~0.72.
