About

A high-risk, signal-driven tactical strategy that seeks to ride momentum in select assets (notably semiconductors and gold) while using Treasuries and volatility hedges to shield downside, with daily rebalances and a single-asset-at-a-time allocation bias.
NutHow it works
In plain language: the system watches a mix of ETFs (short-term bonds as cash equivalents, volatility plays as risk gauges, gold and miners, and leveraged bets on tech/semiconductors). It calculates momentum indicators for these assets and uses a chain of IF rules to decide what to do. If the signals point to a strong, favorable trend, it buys the top-position asset (often a leveraged bet on semiconductors like SOXL or a tech bull like TECL) and may concentrate funds there. If signals indicate risk or a weak market, it keeps money in cash-like assets (BIL/SHY) or in hedges (VIXY, UVXY, SQQQ) to limit losses. Some branches push a secondary exposure (e.g., gold or gold miners) when certain price/momentum conditions hold. The design often selects a single asset (top pick) or a small, hedged pair rather than spreading evenly across many holdings, and it rebalances frequently (even daily in some blocks). RSI and relative-strength measurements are used as the core decision anchors, with thresholds (e.g., overbought/oversold zones) guiding entry/exit. Note: the scheme uses high-leverage vehicles (SOXL, NUGT, TECL, DUST, SOXS) and bear/follow-on hedges, so it aims for big upside moves but comes with substantial risk of large drawdowns during market reversals.
CheckmarkValue prop
Higher upside with hedges: oos return ≈43.8% vs S&P ≈39.8%; Calmar ≈2.20. Tactical, concentrated bets in semis/tech with cash buffers and risk hedges. Note: drawdowns can reach ~20% in bear markets—suited for risk-tolerant investors.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
