About

A cash-like plan that dials between T‑bills (BIL) and slightly riskier ultra‑short bonds (GSY/PULS) based on whether the S&P 500 (SPY) is above its 200‑day average. Seeks a small yield pickup with low volatility; no stocks are held.
NutHow it works
We watch SPY, a fund that tracks the S&P 500 (large U.S. stocks). We compare today’s SPY price to its 200‑day moving average (the average closing price over ~9 months). If price is above it, hold 50% GSY + 50% PULS—ultra‑short bond funds aiming for a bit more yield with low volatility. If below, hold BIL, a 1–3 month U.S. T‑bill fund. Trades mainly when this trend signal flips.
CheckmarkValue prop
An easy cash-like overlay: SPY up = ultra-short bonds; SPY down = T-bills. Out-of-sample: drawdown near 0%, Calmar ~122, Sharpe ~15, near-zero beta to the S&P 500, with steadier, lower-risk returns.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
