About

A fast, rule‑based portfolio that flips between crash protection (volatility, strong USD, short stocks, commodity/crypto hedges) and high‑octane growth (often 2x–3x tech). It uses a fear gauge (VIX), a hot/cold score (RSI), and KMLM as a trend yardstick.
NutHow it works
It watches a fear gauge (VIX via VXX). When fear is high, it shifts into a crash‑catcher: long volatility (VXX/VIXY), long U.S. dollar (UUP), short stocks (SH), and long/short gold, oil and bitcoin (UGL/GLL, UCO/SCO, BITO/BITI). When fear is low and stocks trend, it buys growth (SPY/QQQ) and often 2x–3x tech funds (QLD, TQQQ, TECL, SOXL). A hot/cold score (RSI) times entries. It also checks KMLM (a trend‑following futures ETF) as a yardstick. Rebalances daily.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample data show the strategy underperforms SPY on risk-adjusted return and incurs larger drawdowns, so it’s not a stand-alone replacement. It can act as a diversification sleeve within a broader SPY-focused portfolio.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
